Birmingham City are reportedly eyeing a move for Burnley veteran Nathan Redmond as part of their January transfer plans.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, the Blues are exploring the possibility of securing Redmond on a loan deal to strengthen their promotion campaign.
The 30-year-old winger has endured a frustrating season, having yet to feature for Burnley due to injuries. Although he has now recovered, Burnley manager Scott Parker has only included him on the bench in recent weeks, indicating that Redmond could be made available for transfer within the next fortnight.
Birmingham Target Redmond for Loan Move
Currently fighting for promotion from League One, Birmingham are keen to add experienced players to their squad. Redmond, who has extensive Championship experience, is seen as a valuable asset for their ambitions. The Blues are reportedly looking to secure a loan deal, with the expectation of covering the player’s wages during his time at St Andrew’s.
“Birmingham, who are chasing promotion from League One this season, want to add Redmond to their ranks. They would like to get the player on a loan deal though with the wages of the player to be put on Birmingham’s books,” reported Nixon.
Birmingham have already invested heavily in the transfer market this season, underlining their intent to push for promotion. Adding a player of Redmond’s calibre would provide an additional boost to their campaign.
Despite his proven pedigree, Redmond faces limited opportunities at Burnley, with the Clarets boasting an abundance of options in his position. If he remains at Turf Moor, his chances of breaking into the first team appear slim. A move to Birmingham could give the winger much-needed game time and a fresh challenge as he seeks to reignite his career.Interestingly, Redmond has never played below the Championship level during his career, making a potential stint in League One an unusual step. However, the opportunity to help Birmingham achieve promotion could prove enticing for the experienced winger.
