Our Three Predictions For West Bromwich Albion v Sheffield United

  • Prediction 1 – Sheffield United To Win – 47/25
  • Prediction 2 – Game To End In A Draw – 11/5
  • Prediction 3 – West Bromwich Albion To Win – 69/50

First Prediction For West Bromwich Albion v Sheffield United – Sheffield United To Win – 47/25

The Blades have won six of their last seven Championship games which propelled them to the top of the table. Away from Bramall Lane they have had mixed results of late but picked up wins at Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City, before their last outing at Coventry City yielded a point after a 2-2 draw. The Baggies have not won at home since September 21 and have drawn their last four. United should be able to capitalise on these runs of form to grab a win.

Second Prediction For West Bromwich Albion v Sheffield United – Match To End In A Draw – 11/5

WBA have become draw specialists in the Championship and have 10 to their name this season from their 18 games. They are tough to beat and this could prove useful in a game where their visitors, on a fine run of form, will be hard to keep at bay. However, their resilience is keeping them in the playoff hunt – if not automatic promotion – and another draw here could be the most likely outcome if United fail to get the upper hand early.

Third Prediction For West Bromwich Albion v Sheffield United – West Bromwich Albion To Win – 69/50

Should the law of averages have any say in football then it would suggest the Albion are due a home win. Draws in their last four home games have not gone without merit, their last a 2-2 with Norwich City backed up three goalless encounters, one against Burnley. So, their position just outside the playoff places could be a false one. With United on a tear up the table to top spot, they could be ready for a slip up and there is no reason why it couldn’t happen in this game against a Midlands side that has only lost twice in the Championship so far.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

This was always going to be a game between two sides that headed into the season with big promotion ambitions. It therefore is no surprise to see both at the top end of the league standings. Chris Wilder had a tough job to repeat his previous success with the Sheffield United but has set about this season with a calmness that will stand his team well in the coming months. Built on a steady defence with only nine goals conceded, and a sharpness up front, The Blades will be looking to put another rival in their place as their pursuit of a return to the Premier League continues.

Gustavo Hamer is grabbing headlines with solid displays from his midfield position, with four goals and the same number of assists to his name. He is ably supported by two younger members of the squad, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Tyrese Campbell who have chipped in with nine goals between them.

Carlos Corberan’s West Bromwich Albion have gone under the radar of late but are still a very tough proposition for any Championship opponent. Their uncanny knack of gaining a point from games means they have totalled 10 drawn games to date, but also more impressive is only two defeats so far. This of course means they do lack the edge in winning games, and scoring goals is also an issue with 19 from 18 played. They only have five different goal scorers which will need to be addressed but Josh Mata, the 25-year-old Nigerian, has bagged 10 goals such is his potency in and around the box.
