Our Three Predictions For Doncaster Rovers vs Cheltenham Town:

  • First Prediction for Doncaster Rovers vs Cheltenham Town: Over 2.5 goals to be scored – 18/25
  • Second Prediction for Doncaster Rovers vs Cheltenham Town: Doncaster Rovers to win – 1/2
  • Third Prediction for Doncaster Rovers vs Cheltenham Town: Billy Sharp to score at any time – 13/10

First Prediction For Doncaster Rovers vs Cheltenham Town – Over 2.5 Goals To Be Scored – 18/25

Whilst Doncaster are above Cheltenham by 12 places in the League Two table, both sides’ goalscoring and defensive records are relatively the same. The Robins and Donny alike have proved they can score goals, but at the same time, they have shipped them. McCann’s side have scored 26 times in the league this season, and they have conceded 20 times, which is the third-highest out of the 10 sides who currently make up the top 10. Michael Flynn’s side have scored slightly less and conceded slightly more. Rovers have only failed to score five times in all competitions this season, and with their opposition only managing to keep three clean sheets so far this season in all competitions, this game could be a high-scoring affair.

Second Prediction For Doncaster Rovers vs Cheltenham Town – Doncaster Rovers To Win – 1/2

Despite Cheltenham only losing two games in their last 10, their form has hit a bump recently after they went seven unbeaten in all competitions. Doncaster are unbeaten in eight and are three mere points off being top of the league. Depending on other results in the league, they could well rocket to the top after 19 games played. In addition to this, the Robins have the second-worst away record this season, only winning away twice, drawing once but losing five on their travels.

Third Prediction For Doncaster Rovers vs Cheltenham Town – Billy Sharp To Score At any Time – 13/10

Experienced striker Billy Sharp is joint-top scorer for Donny this season. The ex-Sheffield United striker is in form at the moment and has scored four goals in his last five games. Since the 38-year-old returned to the Eco-Power Stadium in the summer, he has found the net nine times overall in all competitions in 23 appearances. With bags of experience, alongside his recent goalscoring form, it is fair to say the odds for scoring on Saturday are in his favour.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head

As previously mentioned, both sides come into this one in good form, the hosts unbeaten in eight and the away side only losing two matches in their last 10. There’s no doubt what three points could do for Donny, with an intriguing first vs second clash also happening in the league this matchday. For Cheltenham, depending on results around them, they could find themselves as high as ninth if they were to take all three points.

Both sides played midweek, McCann’s side winning their Wednesday clash against Fleetwood Town, 4-2 away from home in abhorrent conditions. The visitors, played Tuesday, where honours remained even at full-time in a 1-1 draw against league-leaders Port Vale. Cheltenham were close to pinching all three points, however, as Vale scored the equaliser in additional time.

In recent years, the two sides have clashed in both League One and League Two. Since 2016, the sides have only met four times, three of them ending up Doncaster wins, but the last clash ended in a Cheltenham win, as they ran out 4-0 winners.
