Our 3 predictions for Bristol City vs Burnley

  • 1st prediction: Burnley to win or draw
  • 2nd prediction: Under 2.5 goals in the game
  • 3rd prediction: Over 3.5 cards in the game

1st prediction for Bristol City vs Burnley: Burnley to win or draw 41/100

This is a prediction made based on Burnley’s form rather than Bristol City’s; the home side have been in great form recently but Burnley’s trends are more powerful, and their league position doesn’t lie. They’ve only lost twice in the league this season, though they have drawn an awful lot recently. With their standing you’d have to consider them favourites but a draw looks possible, especially given the hosts’ strong form of late.

2nd prediction for Bristol City vs Burnley: Under 2.5 goals in the game 29/50

This probably won’t be a goal fest purely due to Burnley’s difficulties in scoring. You’d have to go back to September 21st against Portsmouth for the last time a Burnley game contained three goals or more, with only two goals from their last four. Bristol City are a bit stronger in attack, but with Burnley’s defensive solidity they may struggle. They often struggle against stronger teams, as seen against Leeds United and Sheffield United, and a defensively sound Burnley side may pose a similar challenge.

3rd prediction for Bristol City vs Burnley: Over 3.5 cards in the game – 33/50

A rogue prediction but one that makes sense, again based largely on Burnley rather than Bristol City. They’ve accumulated 35 bookings already, as well as a red for loanee Bashir Humphreys. That being said, the Robins’ disciplinary record isn’t perfect, with Rob Dickie having been sent off in the defeat to Sheffield United. All things considered, plenty of cards are likely in order, but whether they’re yellow or red remains to be seen.

Full preview of the game: last results and head to head

Both sides come into this game on great runs of form, Bristol City with one loss since September and Burnley with one defeat since August. The hosts recovered well from a difficult start and have been resurgent recently, with the club having rallied around manager Liam Manning after a personal tragedy. Burnley’s form has been marred by plenty of draws which has seen them drop down the table slightly; they are one of the favourites to go up and will need to convert some draws to wins. Collectively, though, they only have two losses from their last twelve, which is extremely impressive.

In this fixture’s past, it’s bad reading for the hosts. They’ve lost their last seven against Burnley, in a run stretching back to 2012. Records are made to be broken though, and City are in good form, so who knows how Saturday will turn out.
