Our Three Predictions For AFC Wimbledon v Accrington Stanley

  • Prediction 1 – AFC Wimbledon To Win – 27/50
  • Prediction 2 – Both Teams To Score – yes – 77/100
  • Prediction 3 – Game To End In A Draw – 57/20

First Prediction For AFC Wimbledon v Accrington Stanley – AFC Wimbledon To Win – 27/50

AFC Wimbledon have one of the best home records in English football this season, and despite losing their unbeaten 100% home record last time they played at Plough Lane, their home form should see them through this otherwise tricky match against Accrington Stanley. The Dons, before that loss, had won their previous four league games without conceding. Their tight defence will be tested though as Stanley had a fine away league win at Chesterfield last time on their travels, 3-0.

Second Prediction For AFC Wimbledon v Accrington Stanley – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 77/100

Accrington’s away from is a little inconsistent, having won three and lost three of their last six outings away from the Wham Stadium. One thing they don’t lack though is a presence in front of goal. In those six games they have 10 times, and will look to keep that run going. Wimbledon pride themselves on a tight defence, and look sharp in front of goal too. Despite not scoring in their last two games at home, Grimsby and Brighton U21, they notched up 11 goals in four games, and have backed that up with a three goal blitz at Barrow this past Saturday.

Third Prediction For AFC Wimbledon V Accrington Stanley – Game To End In A Draw – 57/20

Wimbledon do have a case of sometimes not finishing teams off, and this can lead to edgy close games. Should they go ahead, the opposition do find them hard to break down, but one goal may not be enough, so they will need to grab a couple of goals to put them at ease. Accrington’s best chance of getting something from this game will be to go ahead, like Grimsby did recently, and defend well against a lot of pressure. A stalemate could well be on the cards if both those instances occur.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

Johnnie Jackson will be pleased with the way his side bounced back this past weekend after a first home loss of the season against Grimsby. His team huffed and puffed in that game, but could not find a way past a resolute Grimsby defence. At Barrow they found their goalscoring from again, and looked to have found a new talisman striker in Matty Stevens. His brace inside two minutes won the game, and has now truly found his feet in League Two. This game is one of the catch up matches the Dons have after the recent flood damage caused postponements. Should they win this game, they will be in the playoffs places, with games in hand still.

Looking to stop that progress is John Colemans Accrington side who once again find themselves struggling for consistency. They are picking up some useful results though, a goalless draw against high flyers Walsall, a 3-0 win at Chesterfield, and this past weekend a more than presentable 2-2 draw against a battling Swindon Town. 21-year-old Irish midfielder Dara Costello will be the one for Dons to keep quiet, his dynamic play is also bringing goals, with four to his name so far.

This should be a win for AFC Wimbledon, given their home form, and a chance to break into the playoff places. Their forward play is starting to pay off, even with some absent through International duty, and their defence being solid. Stanley can be a thorn in the side though, so Dons fans will need to be wary under the Plough Lane floodlights.
