Eintracht Frankfurt have made their demands known as they try to haggle for Leeds United‘s Rasmus Kristensen.
The Danish defender joined whilst The Whites were in the Premier League but upon their relegation back to the Championship, he went into exile with loan moves to Serie A giants Roma and now to Germany with Frankfurt.
Frankfurt Seek New Negotiations
Whilst it is expected that the full-back will depart Elland Road with the Bundesliga outfit keen to secure him at the end of his loan, reports from Bild suggest that The Eagles are looking to make an offer lower than the initial €15 million (£12.5 million) option added in the deal.
The German paper has reported that Eintracht are seeking a fee ‘far lower’ than €10 million (£8.4 million). The fee however has been disputed, with Florian Plettiburg suggesting that the fee in the loan deal was around the £8.5 to £10 million mark.
United originally bought Kristiansen from fellow German side RB Leipzig for around that latter price under Jesse Marsch. His contract in West Yorkshire expires in 2027.
At Roma he played 31 times and at Frankfurt he has played 12 games but an injury has kept him out for weeks. He has played nearly every minute for Dino Toppmoller’s side.
Writer’s View
Leeds United are likely never going to see Rasmus Kristensen play in their shirts again so trying to get a fee is crucial for them. With the fee reported in the initial deal varying it is uncertain if the club will allow him to leave for a loss but eitherway Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to get a cheaper deal. Ultimately Leeds hold the cards in this deal and with the German side seeking to bring him in, it would be unlikely that United change their stance to secure the best fee possible. Their current options at full back in Sam Byram and Jayden Bogle are doing well enough so any future proceedings should be reinvested elsewhere in the side.
