Galinson, vocal on social media, attributed much of the Gills’ struggles to persistent injury issues, which have disrupted lineup consistency and limited squad depth.

Injuries have been a recurring problem for Gillingham this season, making it difficult for manager Mark Bonner to establish a stable starting lineup. Key players like Armani Little and Josh Andrews recently returned to action, though George Lapslie remains sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained against Newport. The absence of these players has taken its toll, forcing Bonner to adapt his approach game-by-game.
Reflecting on Gillingham’s struggles, Galinson candidly acknowledged the impact of these obstacles on the team’s league performance.
“Mark cannot get a complete team together from week to week,” Galinson wrote on social media. “We are playing like a mid-table team and we are positioned just where we deserve. Things will change. It is still early in the season and we have our players coming back.”
Missed Opportunity at Swindon
Gillingham came close to breaking their losing streak on Saturday against Swindon. Leading 1-0, they conceded a stoppage-time equalizer, ending the match in a deflating 1-1 draw. The result marked the team’s sixth consecutive winless outing, though it represented an improvement over their previous five-game losing streak. For the squad, this late equalizer felt like another setback, with Bonner commenting,
“We walked away with a point, and everyone feels deflated, defeated, down, as much as we have been in the last two weeks.”
Upcoming Challenges and Key Returns
Looking ahead, Gillingham faces a busy schedule, including an FA Cup match against Blackpool and back-to-back league clashes with top teams Port Vale and Walsall. Goalkeeper Glenn Morris is expected back soon, adding competition in goal, while left-back Max Clark, who served a suspension over the weekend, will also be available. However, the team is still without Robbie McKenzie, Aaron Rowe, Bradley Dack, and Elliott Nevitt, all recovering from injuries.
