Chesterfield Sanction National League Loan Extension

Chesterfield have confirmed that Bailey Hobson will remain on loan until at least the new year after renewing a deal with Barnet.

The 22-year-old was sent out to the National League leaders last month, playing six times for the club. He will now remain at The Hive Stadium until January as Dean Brennan’s side look to hold on to the top spot in non-league.

He joined The Spireites from Alfreton Town in the summer last year and was sent to fellow National League side Kidderminster Harriers. Hobson made 19 appearances in Worcestershire, scoring three times before leaving at the start of 2024.

Paul Cook utilised him as a squad player for the rest of that season, handing him a further 15 appearances as the Derbyshire club secured the National League title and a return to the EFL after a six-year absence.

Boost For The Bees

Barnet are currently three points clear at the summit of the fifth tier and travel to a Solihull Moors side struggling following their play-off final defeat at the hands of Bromley. They are also the top scorers in the division with 28 goals, spearheaded by the attack of Callum Stead, Zak Brunt and Nicke Kambamba.

Hobson played the full 90 minutes in their last game as they comfortably breezed past Chelmsford City to secure their place in the FA Cup first round proper. They travel to League One’s Exeter City, a side that have not conceded in their last 540 minutes of action.

Writer’s View

Securing Bailey Hobson for another period is good news for Barnet. He has been a great performer for them at a time when they are dominating their opposition in the National League. They were tipped to have a good season and still whilst anything can happen Dean Brennan has got this side scoring for fun. They do not look like they can lose at this moment and securing a player in Hobson that should be getting opportunities at his parent club Chesterfield can only aid their form going into the new year.
