Our Three Predictions For Rotherham United vs Wrexham

  • Prediction 1 – Over 2.5 goals – 1.93
  • Prediction 2 – Both sides to score – 1.70
  • Prediction 3 – Wrexham to win – 3.10

First Prediction For Rotherham United vs Wrexham – Over 2.5 goals – 1.93

Goals have been free flowing for both sides in their most recent games. For Wrexham, they comfortably dispatched Northampton Town at home before a 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers’ academy side in the EFL Trophy. Rotherham have scored 10 goals across their last five games and only kept a clean sheet against 24th-placed Cambridge United during that run. The only concern around if both teams will score is Wrexham’s recent away form, failing to score in their last two matches away from Wales.

Second Prediction For Rotherham United vs Wrexham – Both sides to score – 1.70

Linking into the first prediction, Rotherham have only kept two clean sheets total in league play this season, against Cambridge and in a goalless draw against Bristol Rovers. Wrexham have had this long break due to international callups, allowing key strikers Paul Mullin, Jack Marriott, Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher to be sharp for kick-off this weekend. Steve Evans will look to the ever-dangerous Jonson Clarke-Harris to spearhead his attack, the 30-year-old was the joint-top scorer in League One in the 2022/23 season and already has four to his name so far.

Third Prediction For Rotherham United vs Wrexham – Wrexham to win – 3.10

Ultimately Wrexham do look like the better prospect for this clash. They are only behind Peterborough United in the League One scoring charts this season and rank in the top six in terms of least goals conceded. Their away form might be shaky but with the way Rotherham have started this season they have a very good shot of putting a second away win on the board this season.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Wrexham have come on leaps and bounds since their promotion to League One and were pace setters alongside Birmingham City before they were defeated by the St. Andrews club. The Red Dragons have had a couple of slip ups since then with a loss to Stevenage and a draw at Crawley Town. Phil Parkinson’s side have won just once on the road in the third tier this season and are ranked 16th in the competition on away form.

Rotherham have had a shaky start following their relegation, but have finally got their season on the right track and come into this contest unbeaten in their last five. They drew 3-3 to Peterborough United last weekend, putting them two points behind the playoff places having played either one or two games more than the sides above them. Evans’ side had just 24% possession against Posh, but held on for a point after being 3-1 up at half-time.

The former Leeds United boss will not be on the touchline in South Yorkshire following picking up a sixth booking of the season, more than any player in the EFL this season. The FA confirmed to the Rotherham Advertiser that Evans’ one match ban will be applied to this upcoming game. Sean Raggett and Liam Kelly are both freshly coming off of injuries, and The Millers boss has said they will be ready to face Wrexham.

This will be the first contest between these two sides since 2007, with Rotherham having won the last five matches in a row. Older Wrexham fans will fondly remember their famous 7-1 demolition of The Millers in the old League Three in 1978 as well as a 7-0 thrashing in 1995.
