Norwich City have agreed a deal with Hull City to sell winger Abu Kamara, according to the BBC’s Nick Mashiter on X.
The 21-year-old looks set to move to the MKM Stadium for a fee of £4.5 million plus add-ons, after he submitted a transfer request earlier this month. It’s believed Norwich want to make a signing of their own before Kamara’s sale is finalised but that the move is edging closer.
The attacker had been linked with a move to the Premier League with last season’s play-off winners Southampton, but this failed to materialise. He was also rumoured to be potentially moving to Championship new boys Portsmouth, having represented the club on loan last season. Pompey are said to no longer be interested having struggled to meet the Canaries’ asking price.
Kamara, who has a year left on his Norwich deal, with the option for another year, has featured only sparsely this season due to the interest shown in him. He was left out of the squad for the club’s last two Championship games due to the uncertainty over his future, with new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup having done the same for fellow winger Jonathan Rowe before his move to Marseille, being keen to deal with any unhappiness amongst players.
Despite having barely featured for his current club, Kamara has a growing reputation in the EFL. He was a key player as Portsmouth won the League One title last year and has proven himself at youth level but looks like leaving Norwich without properly breaking into their first team.
Norwich have had a poor start to the season after a difficult summer, and the potential sale of Kamara will only add to concern amongst fans. The club have already lost Jonathan Rowe and Gabriel Sara as well as Adam Idah, and Kamara looks set to leave next with the club winless in the league and running out of time for signings.
As for Hull, Kamara will add to a side looking for attacking reinforcements after the sale of Jaden Philogene and having had a mixed start to the season. They started slowly in the window and grew into it and look like making perhaps their biggest move right at the death.

This is a great move for Hull but gutting for Norwich. Kamara has wanted to leave for a while and his exclusion, along with other departures, has coincided with poor form. With very little time left in the window, a replacement may be rushed which wouldn’t help matters at Carrow Road. For Hull, this is a great deal for another struggling side who have had a poor window. Kamara will give them an extra edge in attack as well as an advantage over the selling club, a direct rival, which can only be a positive.
