Ex-Stoke City star Tyrese Campbell is wanted by top-flight Scottish side Rangers, according to the Daily Mail.
Campbell, son of the late Kevin Campbell, joined Stoke from the Manchester City academy in 2016. Since then, the 24-year-old has been a staple of the Potters’ first team. After a successful loan spell at League One Shrewsbury Town, he broke into the first team, after he scored five goals in 15 appearances for the Shropshire outfit. He has since made over 150 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with 57 goal contributions.
Amid the Rangers interest however, the former England Under-20 international has nothing short of multiple options available to him, with Championship sides Sheffield Wednesday, West Bromwich Albion, Queens Park Rangers, Preston North End and Cardiff City all also among those reportedly interested in the forward.
The Gers appointed new first-team manager Philippe Clement midway through the 2023/24 season, after the sacking of Michael Beale. They look to improve on last season’s second-place finish with this season set to be Clement’s first full year in charge in Glasgow. With the club busy on the transfer front already, the former Scottish serial winners have set their sights on returning to winning ways. Rangers have so far brought in the likes of Hamza Igamane, Clinton Nsiala, Oscar Cortes and Jefte in Clement’s rebuild, after letting the likes of Borna Barisic, John Lundstram and Kemar Roofe go after the expiry of their contracts. The new era for the Gers could also include Englishman Campbell, who looks to kick on his career after a memorable eight years in Stoke-on-Trent.
Meanwhile, English clubs such as Sheffield Wednesday and QPR will be hoping to strengthen their squads to avoid another relegation battle, with both Cardiff and Preston looking to improve on their midtable finishes. West Brom, however, may see Campbell as another missing piece to their promotion hunt, after losing in the play-offs to now Premier League side Southampton.

A top-flight move being on the cards for the 24-year-old speaks of his quality. The Gers have reignited their interest in him after he rejected a move to Ibrox back in 2020, however, the past is the past, and now if he were to choose Rangers, it would be a good move for all involved. The Glasgow-based side seems like they are looking to bring in younger talent, and Campbell being young with all the experience he’s got under his belt could mean a move to Ibrox might be the perfect move for all involved.
If the striker preferred to stay in England, it is fair to say he is not short of suitors here. Signing a Championship-proven striker for any club that manages to get him will send a message of intent to the rest of the League. Although leaving Stoke was a controversial choice in many eyes, whatever Campbell does choose as his next chapter could kick his career on.
