Queens Park Rangers Could Offer Swap Deal For £1.7 Million-Rated Star

Queens Park Rangers centre-forward Lyndon Dykes has garnered interest from a club in the Championship this summer and may even be part of a swap deal, according to reports.

The West London outfit have had a busy transfer window so far, signing four new players, including former Wigan Athletic loanee Liam Morrison from Bayern Munich for an undisclosed fee as well as goalkeeper Paul Nardi, fullback Hevertton and youngster Daniel Bennie.

Meanwhile, several players went in the opposite direction, such as first-choice shot-stopper Asmir Begovic, star attacker Chris Willock and midfielder Andre Dozzell who left as free agents. As a result, head coach Marti Cifuentes is looking to strengthen his squad’s depth ahead of the new campaign which kicks off in just a few weeks.

Nevertheless, there are still some players who have been linked with a move away from Queens Park Rangers this summer, the most recent being Scotland international Dykes who missed out on a place at EURO 2024 after picking up an injury right before the tournament commenced.

Journalist Alan Nixon published a report on his exclusive Patreon, via London World, claiming that fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers are keen to secure the services of the QPR striker, who has a market value of £1.7 million, as per Transfermarkt. However, Nixon has stated that the Lancashire side may struggle to cough up a figure big enough to entice the London side to accept a bid, but there have been discussions about a possible swap deal, although he has not given any names as to which Rangers player may be involved.

This deal would make sense for Blackburn. The club are reportedly set to lose top goalscorer Sammie Szmodics this summer as the Irishman’s memorable campaign last season has piqued the interest of numerous sides in the Premier League who are looking to sign a proven goalscorer.

Furthermore, Semir Telalovic has left Ewood Park after merely twelve months, meaning Rovers will need to acquire some attacking reinforcements heading into the 2024/25 season, hence why Dykes’ name has popped up in the press, although given the Scotsman has two years remaining on his contract at Queens Park Rangers, it’s difficult to see how Blackburn can afford to pay a figure close to £2 million.
