Norwich City remain in talks with Celtic over the potential transfer of attacker Adam Idah, according to Football.Scotland.
The Scottish champions are keen to bring the 23-year-old to Glasgow on a permanent basis after he enjoyed a successful loan spell last season. Idah headed north of the border during the winter transfer window. He went on to play a big role in Brendan Rodgers’ team, scoring nine goals in 19 appearances.
It looked as if his time at Carrow Road was coming to an end under David Wagner. However, the German’s departure has seen a change in stance from the East Anglians, with new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup reportedly a big fan of the player.
The Republic of Ireland international rose through the academy at Norwich, making his league debut in 2020. He has since gone on to feature over 100 times but has made no secret of his love of Celtic. After scoring the winner in the Scottish Cup final in May, the striker revealed just how much he had enjoyed his time in Scotland whilst also aiming a thinly veiled attack at his parent club:
“I’ve been loving it here, but I am still contracted to Norwich. I’ll have some time off now and see what happens.
“But it has been amazing. I probably didn’t expect it to be as good as what it was. I’ve said it before, this has really changed my career around. I wasn’t in the best of places when I was down south.
“But I’ve come up here and the players, the staff, the fans, they’ve all welcomed me in and they’ve given me that confidence and belief to enjoy playing football again.
“I was always quite confident in my own ability, but I knew coming here, the demand of the club and the pressure, I do enjoy that but no-one knows what is going to happen. I got off to a good start and just thrived off that belief. The support here has been top-class.
“You can put how well I have done down to that. I probably wasn’t enjoying my football down south. I was a scapegoat and it’s tough when you’re in there. The love I’ve had here has been amazing. I’m loving it here.”
Celtic are said to have had a £4 million plus add-ons bid rejected at the start of this month. However, the Bhoys are refusing to give up on their transfer target. Talks between the two parties are still taking place, although Norwich are demanding a significantly higher fee than the one that was previously offered.

This is a really interesting one. Idah’s career at Carrow Road looked over just a few months ago and it was looking increasingly likely that he would head to Celtic Park on a permanent basis. However, Thorup’s arrival has thrown a spanner in the works.
The Dane is likely to have held talks with the attacker to set out his vision. He clearly sees him as a vital cog of his team next season, but the lure of Celtic has seemingly turned his head. He became a hero in his short stint there last season, whilst his previous comments indicate that he had become disillusioned with life at his parent club.
If the Hoops were to stump up around £6 million, this could prove to be enough to secure his services.
