Luton Town are looking to bolster their squad after being relegated from the Premier League and have identified a highly-rated player currently plying his trade in France, according to the latest reports.
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Luton’s rise to the top tier of English football in recent seasons has been their recruitment. The club have bought players for relatively low fees and managed to earn three promotions in just five years while performing admirably in the Premier League despite having the lowest budget in the competition.
This impressive recruitment strategy is not set to stop despite the Hatters dropping back down to the Championship. Get Football News France have revealed that Rob Edwards’ side have identified Dijon youngster Cyriaque Irie as a possible signing this summer but face stiff competition for the 19-year-old.
French outlet L’Equipe reported earlier today that European giants AC Milan are keen to bring the Burkinabe to the San Siro and that the player himself agreed terms with the Rossoneri. Furthermore, the outlet have claimed that the Italian outfit submitted a bid worth £2.5 million for his services, but Dijon rejected this offer despite the winger being keen to earn a move away from France this summer.
Burkina Faso are producing some incredibly talented attacking players, including the likes of Bundesliga champion Edmond Tapsoba, Bournemouth forward Dango Ouattara and Shakhtar Donetsk forward Lassina Traore.
Meanwhile, Luton Town signed Issa Kabore last summer on loan from Premier League champions Manchester City. Irie is just another name that can be added to the growing list of talents coming out of the African nation.

If Luton Town want to secure the signing of Irie before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August, the club will need to pay more than the £2.5 million that AC Milan offered for his signature which was swiftly rejected by Dijon.
While, historically, the Hatters cannot compete with a club like the Serie A giants, Edwards may be able to offer him much more game-time than Milan and a possible route to playing Premier League football. Perhaps Kabore could have a word with his compatriot too to entice him to move to Kenilworth Road.
