Sunderland have been luckless in their search for a new manager before the transfer window opens but now have a new name on their list, according to the latest reports.
The Black Cats have been without a permanent head coach since mid-February when Michael Beale was relieved of his duties after merely 12 matches in charge. Mike Dodds was handed the reins on an interim basis while the hierarchy searched for a successor for the former Queens Park Rangers boss. Unfortunately, four months on from the 43-year-old’s departure, the Wearside outfit remain managerless.

Furthermore, the transfer window opens next Friday, leading to growing frustration from the fans. Owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has been scrambling in desperation to find a new manager to lead the club next season but no appointment has come to fruition just yet.
There have been a number of names touted with the vacant job at the Stadium of Light. Will Still, who met with Louis-Dreyfus before Christmas, is now off the list having been left dissatisfied with the potential make-up of his staff and the investment coming from above. Additionally, the 31-year-old is set to become the new RC Lens boss in France.
A new name that is said to be on the growing list at Sunderland is Pascal Jensen. According to journalist Alan Nixon, the Black Cats have “serious interest” in the 51-year-old who left his post at AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie after four years in charge within which he boasted a 59% win ratio after guiding his side to 96 victories in 162 matches.

Jensen is a London-born Dutchman who could be appointed in the English North-East over the coming weeks. Should Jensen show any signs of interest, Sunderland shouldn’t hesitate to give him the perfect conditions to work at the Stadium of Light.
The ex-PSV Eindhoven youth coach plays a highly attractive brand of football and is fantastic at working with young players and helping them to develop. This is exactly the type of head coach that the Black Cats need right now and certainly one that the board have waited long enough to find.
