Southampton have now earned promotion back to the Premier League but the recruitment department have already identified some targets ahead of the summer transfer window to strengthen the squad, according to reports.
The Saints travelled to Wembley Stadium at the weekend to face Leeds United, knowing what was at stake. Achieving a return to the top-flight would inject the club with colossal financial fruits and could prevent the sale of some key players this summer, such as Adam Armstrong and Kyle Walker-Peters.
It was the club’s top goalscorer Armstrong who opened the scoring in the English capital, striking the ball low and hard into the bottom left-hand corner past Leeds’ goalkeeper Ilian Meslier. Consequently, this turned out to be the only goal of the game as the Saints celebrated a return to the promised land after merely 12 months out of the competition.
In the aftermath of the victory, Southampton triggered their obligation-to-buy clause for Taylor Harwood-Bellis which is worth £20 million, meaning the 22-year-old will be back at the St. Mary’s Stadium next season, leaving Manchester City on a permanent basis and becoming the club on the south coast’s first signing of the summer.
However, the Saints are currently scouting the market, looking for more players to bolster Russell Martin’s squad. One name that is reportedly on the recruitment department’s list is Aberdeen‘s prolific centre-forward Bojan Miovski.
According to The Daily Mail, Southampton are vying for the North Macedonia international’s signature this summer with Serie A outfit Bologna, who recently confirmed their place in next season’s extended UEFA Champions League. Furthermore, The Daily Record are claiming that the Dons are holding out for £6 million for the striker’s signature.

Miovski has had a truly incredible campaign in Scotland despite Aberdeen’s struggles on the pitch. The 24-year-old has bagged 25 goals and recorded four assists in 52 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish side despite the club finding themselves in a relegation battle this term.
The goalscorer could be an astute signing for Southampton, particularly with Che Adams looking likely to be heading out the door as his contract is set to expire. Miovski may be the perfect replacement for Adams next season, provided he can adapt well to English football.
