Leicester City will target West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan should Enzo Maresca depart for Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.
The Premier League giants parted company with Mauricio Pochettino earlier this week, potentially setting off a managerial merry-go-round. The Blues are keen to make a swift appointment, with a decision expected within the next week.
Interviews have already proceeded and Ipswich Town‘s Kieran McKenna is thought to be leading the race. However, the 38-year-old is the subject of interest from a number of clubs. The Tractor Boys are keen to keep the Northern Irishman following his back-to-back promotion success and are thought to have offered an improved contract. Meanwhile, former club Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion are also tracking his situation.
Chelsea do have other candidates in mind. This is believed to include Brentford manager Thomas Frank and Foxes boss Enzo Maresca. The Italian has become hot property after guiding Leicester to the Championship title. His style of play is thought to appeal to the Londoners, who are looking for an up-and-coming manager to guide them into the future.
As a result, the 2015/16 Premier League champions are lining up potential replacements. According to reports, they have set their sights on West Brom’s Corberan.
The 41-year-old has been in charge of the Baggies since 2022 and guided the club into the play-offs this season. He has been widely praised for the job he has done at the Hawthorns, with off-the-field antics taking centre stage throughout much of the campaign.
A fifth-placed finish saw them tackle Southampton in the semi-final, where they secured a 0-0 draw in the first leg. The return fixture at St Mary’s proved one step too far though, with the Saints progressing to Sunday’s final with a 3-1 win.
Corberan is currently under contract until 2027, having committed his future to the club in February 2023.

It’s understandable that Leicester would target Carlos Corberan. He has performed an admirable job at West Brom and it’s no surprise to see him start appearing on the radar of others.
It will be interesting to see how this develops and there is of course a lot of factors that need to play out before we arrive at this situation. The Baggies will be keeping a keen eye on what happens at Stamford Bridge and will be hoping for a quick resolution. The last thing they need as they prepare for next season is a period of uncertainty, especially as they believe they have the right man to guide them back into the Premier League.
