Former Birmingham City striker Che Adams could well be on the move this summer with his contract at Southampton up and his future yet to be decided.
His whereabouts could however all depend on whether the Saints achieve promotion to the Premier League or not. They’ll be facing Leeds United next weekend in the Championship play-off final and having beaten their opponents on the final day of the season, will fancy their chances.
There is uncertainty as to whether the Scotsman will play a part in the final or not having not been present for either of the two semi-final legs against West Bromwich Albion. After a 0-0 draw at the Hawthorns, the Saints would book their place at Wembley thanks to a rather comfortable 3-1 win in the return leg.
Adams, who really made a name for himself at Birmingham City with a successful three-year spell between 2016 and 2019 has been with the Saints ever since and has been a key member of the attack. He looks likely to move now given he seems out of favour at the club and a move back to the Premier League wouldn’t come as a surprise.
This has in fact been his first season back in the Championship since leaving Birmingham in 2019 with Southampton only losing their place in the top flight last season. He’d make 116 appearances for the Blues in the second tier, racking up 34 goals and 13 assist during that time which earned him a big money move to St Mary’s.
Now aged 27, Adams is coming into his prime years and will be wanting to play his football in England’s top flight. A move may not be far away with TEAMtalk reporting that Wolves are leading the race for the Scotsman’s signature with Leeds United and Everton also keeping close tabs on the striker.
Whether he plays a part in the play-off final is just as up in the air as his future at Southampton and Adams may well have now played his last game for the South Coast club.

Given his track record, Adams was always going to receive plenty of attention given his situation and he now looks set to return to the Premier League, potentially with Wolves.
One thing is known already, that being that the fee the £15 million fee that Southampton paid Birmingham will not be matched given his contract is up. It’ll be a valuable piece of business that the Saints will be missing out on, losing one of their star men in the process.
He’s progressed since his time in the West Midlands and a change of scenery could well spark further improvement.
