Norwich City Join Race For £4 Million Attacker

Norwich City have it all to play for ahead of their trip to Leeds United on Friday but are still scouring the market for potential bargains this summer, according to the latest reports.

The Canaries missed a trick on Sunday afternoon by failing to beat Daniel Farke’s fragile side at Carrow Road but are certainly still in with a chance of booking their place at Wembley next week, although clinching a victory at Elland Road will certainly be a tough ask.

Norwich City Reignite Interest In Premier League Attacker

Nevertheless, the transfer market is set to open in just a few weeks’ time and the Norfolk-based club have identified a number of targets to sign ahead of next season, regardless of whether or not David Wagner’s men will be playing top-flight football or will remain in the Championship.

One name on the list for Norwich City is AEK Athens star Niclas Eliasson, according to Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt. The left-winger lifted the Greek Super League title last season under former Argentina national team and Inter Milan midfielder Matias Almeyda and previously played for Championship Bristol City for three years from 2017-2020.

The outlet are claiming that the Canaries face stiff competition in pursuit of his signature, with Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven and French side Nantes all in the race to sign the 28-year-old. Furthermore, Fotboll Direkt have stated that clubs could sign him for between £3.4 and £4.3 million.

Eliasson has had an excellent season in Greece, having bagged eight goals and recorded a whopping 12 assists in all competitions for AEK Athens, who are on the cusp of securing their status as champions ahead of tomorrow’s huge clash with Europa Conference League finalists Olympiacos.

Writer’s View

Eliasson has proved from his stats this season that he can score goals but his ability to create chances for his teammates is arguably more impressive. With the likes of PSV keen to sign the Swede, Norwich City would do well to pull off this deal.

However, with Jonathan Rowe linked with a move away from Carrow Road this summer, Eliasson is likely to have been identified as the perfect replacement for the 21-year-old, who has bagged 16 goal contributions this term in Norfolk. His prior experience in the Championship is certainly a promising sign.
