With Josh Sargent firing in the goals for Norwich City recently and looking to remain a key asset to the East Anglian side, a decision must be made about Adam Idah, following an impressive loan campaign for Celtic.
Norwich themselves have put an impressive run on performances together to ensure they will be in the play-offs, unless results go against them drastically on the final day. However, with the odds in their favour as one of the most in-form teams out of the four or five candidates, promotion to the Premier League next season is still possible.
Looking ahead to the Canaries’ potential summer business, one player who faces question marks over his future is Idah. The 23-year-old has only made 14 appearances for Celtic since joining in the winter window but he has provided seven goals and two assists in all competitions, including a strike of utmost importance in a 3-3 draw in the Old Firm Derby. This 87th-minute goal should’ve been enough to snatch all three points, but ex-Stoke City winger Rabbi Matondo equalised in the third minute of stoppage time to rescue a point for Rangers.

The Republic of Ireland international acknowledged his own performances of late by saying:
“It’s probably the most confident I’ve ever been. People can probably tell that when I’m on the pitch and around the place, it’s probably the best I have played, and you can tell by the goals.”
Idah’s loan spell has certainly impressed the Celts’ boss, Brendan Rodgers, as well as former striker John Hartson, who has won three Scottish Premiership titles with Celtic. Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, the latter had a lot to say about the 23-year-old’s impressive loan spell and how much the club should spend on acquiring Idah’s permanent signature.
“I like him. He’s come to the club, and not many people really knew him. I think when they looked him up, they saw he was not overly great at Norwich. I think he’s got his head down. He’s scored seven goals in the time he’s been on loan.
“Some big goals as well in that period, and I think he can run in behind; he’s got lots of good attributes to his game. Somebody said to me, ‘Would Celtic pay £7 million or £8 million for him?’, I said, ‘I’m not sure Celtic are in the market to spend that much’.
“Somebody said to me, ‘What would you spend?’ I said, ‘Around £4 million’, but I think he’s somebody who has done enough to merit Celtic signing him. I think he’s one of them that can improve, and I’d like to see him get that opportunity at Celtic, I think he would be a very good signing.”

It could be safe to argue that Idah has a very good chance of sealing a move away from Norwich if they look to sell in the summer. But if there are no sufficient bids, another opportunity with the Canaries could be perfect for both parties. The 23-year-old has clearly shown an improvement in front of goal.
Celtic on the other hand, may be priced out of a move if the fee proves to be too extortionate for the Scottish club. Rodgers is clearly impressed by the Irishman and he should be doing as much as they can to make Celtic Park Idah’s permanent home.
