Swansea City Star To Look For New Home This Summer

Struggling Swansea City loanee Charlie Patino has asked his representatives to find him a new club ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the latest reports.

Back-to-back wins for the Swans have moved the Welsh outfit away from the dreaded relegation zone. Luke Williams’ side jumped to 14th on Saturday afternoon following a narrow 1-0 win at home against bottom-of-the-table Rotherham United, putting them nine points above the drop zone with three games remaining, all but confirming safety in the Championship for another season.

It has been a difficult campaign for Swansea. Having had hopes of fighting for the play-offs, the team, instead, found themselves battling for their status in the second tier for the majority of this season, but talk of an unprecedented relegation has now finally been put to bed following the weekend’s results.

This gives the board the opportunity to plan for the transfer market as they look to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign under Williams. One man who certainly won’t be at the club is loan star Patino.

The Arsenal midfielder hasn’t had the individual season he would have wanted when he joined the club last summer on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old has made 33 appearances in all competitions for the Swans but has been in the starting lineup in less than half of these matches.

Having been a regular starter under former head coach Michael Duff, Patino has now fallen out of favour during Williams’ time in the Swansea City dugout. Across the club’s last seven matches, the youngster has featured for merely 15 minutes in total.

Furthermore, after joining Swansea on loan back in August, his market value has decreased from £10.3 million to £8.6 million, as per Transfermarkt.

It was reported earlier this week by The Standard that a permanent exit from Arsenal was looking likely over the coming months as the Gunners are set to cash in on the academy product. Now, according to a report from Pianeta Milan, Patino has asked his representatives to find him a new home this summer, with Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus circling for his signature.

Writer’s View

Having started the season at Swansea City so brightly, Patino’s time at the club has fizzled out quite rapidly, particularly in the latter half of the campaign, and both the fans and coaches will certainly be left disappointed with his showing this term.

However, it looks as though the young midfielder is disgruntled about his uncertain future at the Emirates Stadium upon return from his loan spell. Perhaps a fresh start in a different country like Italy is just what he needs to fully perform to his potential and make Arsenal envious of letting go of what they had.
