Crawley? Doncaster? The Race For The League Two Play-Offs

League Two’s Play-Off race looks quite the spectacle, with at least six sides in with a shot of sixth and seventh place.

Barrow and Crawley Town hold the cards at the moment, but watch out for a rampant Doncaster side who have turned fears of the drop in January to a race for seventh by April.

Take a look as we delve into the final fixtures for each side…

Final 3: Grimsby Town (H), Wrexham (H), Colchester United (A)

A gap of six to third place means that chances of automatics are very slim, but a win over Grimsby Town tomorrow could virtually secure a top-seven spot for the Railwaymen.

Next Saturday they play host to Wrexham, in the game the Welsh side could potentially secure promotion to League One. On the final day it’s a trip to the South-East to face a Colchester side who could well need points in their League Two survival mission.

6th: Barrow

Final 5: Gillingham (A), Crawley Town (A), Doncaster Rovers (A), Bradford City (H), Mansfield Town (H)

Pete Wilds’ side face a packed end to the season, which begins at a Gillingham outfit who appear to have blown their Play-Off hopes with back-to-back losses. Then they remain south of the capital to face the side directly below them: Crawley. The Red Devils are under pressure to secure seventh spot with a number of sides below ready to swoop.

The games don’t get any easier with another away trip, this time to South Yorkshire to face in-form Doncaster. Home comforts return for the final week of the season, with Bradford heading to Holker Street before Mansfield finish the campaign in the North-west.

7th: Crawley Town

Final 4: Colchester United (H), Barrow (H), Sutton United (A), Grimsby Town (H)

Scott Lindsey and his men have raced from nowhere to snatch seventh spot, but they face a real battle in the final weeks to keep a grip on their position. They look to bounce back from their heavy defeat at Wrexham by facing a side at the opposite end of the League Two table: Colchester.

Barrow and Sutton swiftly follow, before Grimsby are the visitors on the last day. Both sides will be hoping that they’ve secured their respective ambitions, but Doncaster in particular could cause issues for the Red Devils.

8th: AFC Wimbledon
P:43 GD:11 Pts:62

Final 3: Swindon Town (A), Tranmere Rovers (A), Walsall (H)

Fate is out of Johnnie Jackson’s hands as they have played a game more than most around them, but they are currently the closest challengers to Crawley in seventh. Two away games await at sides towards the bottom of the standings in Swindon and then Tranmere.

If the Dons take it to the final day, then Walsall may also be challenging for a Play-Off berth. Plough Lane could play host to a game of huge significance, while attention will likely be elsewhere too on other results.

9th: Walsall
P:42 GD:2 Pts:62

Final 4: Notts County (H), Swindon Town (H), Bradford City (H), AFC Wimbledon (A)

In terms of favourable fixtures, Walsall have one of the best on paper with three home games against sides with nothing to play for this term. That run begins against Notts County today, before games against Swindon and Bradford.

A final day in the capital awaits against a potential rival for seventh spot in AFC Wimbledon. The Dons currently lead the Saddlers on goal difference, but plenty can change in the next two weeks, particularly given Mat Sadler’s outfit have a game in hand.

10th: Doncaster Rovers

Final 4: Accrington Stanley (H), Barrow (H), Colchester United (A), Gillingham (A)

A tremendous run of seven straight wins has propelled Grant McCann’s side into the Play-Off race, although they still have four points to make up with four games to go. Their run-in begins against Accrington, before a crucial showdown against a side already in the top seven: Barrow.

On the final week of the season, a rearranged trip to Colchester awaits, before another trip south on the final day against Gillingham could decide their fate.

11th: Harrogate Town
P:43 GD:-7 Pts:61

Final 3: Sutton United (H), Milton Keynes Dons (H), Salford City (A)

Having been in and out the race, the Sulphurites have an outside shot thanks to a run of one loss in seven. Nothing less than three wins are required though, and that starts against Sutton, who are in desperate needs of points to avoid exiting the division.

MK Dons may also require points for an altogether different reason the following week, before it’s a short trip to Lancashire on the final day to face Salford City.
