“We Have To Find A Way” – Peterborough United Boss Emphasises There’s No Easy Game

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has given opponents Burton Albion plenty of praise ahead of their weekend clash.

Burton go into the game on a three game winless streak which has seen them lose to bottom side Carlisle United as well as Northampton Town. In their other game, last weekend against relegation-threatened Cheltenham Town, they were held to a 0-0 draw.

Perhaps the most pressing issue for the Brewers is their lack of goals, with those three games not seeing them put the ball in the back of their opponent’s net once.

On the other hand, Peterborough are not a side who struggle to score goals and they are the current top scorers in the league. Rather impressively, Posh are averaging just under two goals a game with 68 goals in 35 games this season thus far.

Based on recent form, you’d expect a Peterborough win purely based off of the fact that they can easily outscore their opposition. Football however is never that predictable, and Ferguson has no doubt made his players wary of the challenge.

It’s a rather pivotal game for Posh, who now sit just five points off of the automatics with a game in hand. After a five game winless streak, Ferguson’s side have won their last three and will be looking to continue their winning run against struggling opposition.

After an emphatic 5-1 come-from-behind victory against Northampton Town last week, the players will be full of confidence and that said confidence may well be seen against Burton.

Speaking to the Peterborough Telegraph ahead of the trip to Burton, Ferguson emphasised that it was no easy task.

“It’s always a tough game there, never easy. We expect another tough one tomorrow. They are fighting for their lives and still need some points.

“I always find games there really tough and you have to earn your right to control the game and any time you get three points there, it’s always a good result.

“We’re aware that it is a tight pitch but we just have to find a way, it’s not an issue.”

Writer’s View

There is no easy game in the league and that is something that Ferguson has previously eluded to. His side do seem back at their best though and another good performance can be expected. They know that they have the ability to outscore their opposition and a repeat of the performance on Tuesday should see them comfortably win this.

That’s easier said than done though, but it would send a statement to the rest of the promotion chasers. They may not be in the best position, but Peterborough seem as if they are a team going in the right direction once again and could be putting together a late charge for automatic promotion this year.
