Norwich City Striker Open To Permanent Move To European Club

Norwich City striker Adam Idah is open to a permanent move to Celtic after an excellent start to life in Glasgow, according to a report from Football Insider.

Idah has been in fine form since going on loan to the Scottish club in January, scoring four goals in four appearances so far. Two of those goals came at the weekend off the bench against Motherwell, with the Irishman turning the game around for the Hoops in a 3-1 victory.

The 23-year-old left Norwich due to a lack of game time under David Wagner. In the 28 appearances he had for the Canaries before leaving the Championship, only twelve were from the start, with Josh Sargent or Ashley Barnes usually preferred up front.

Idah is said to be open to joining the Scottish champions, with the opportunity to play European football next season something that entices him. He has recently spoken about how the pressure of playing for a club like Celtic is making him thrive.

“There’s always pressure at Celtic because it’s such a big club and the demands on everyone are huge, I think I thrive off pressure.

“That’s what excites me. For a lot of players, that’s what you play football for. That pressure gives you that bit of motivation. I know for me, that’s when I play my best.”

The Hoops did not include a buy option in the deal for the striker and will need to negotiate with the Championship club to try and come to an agreement if they do decide to pursue a move permanently. Idah has a current market value of £2.9 million, as per Transfermarkt.

Celtic currently sit second in the SPFL, two points behind the leaders Rangers. They face Dundee tomorrow, with Idah expected to play a part.

Idah has been an important asset for Celtic since joining as he is a different type of profile to what they have in the squad in the attacking department. His ability to hold up the ball and his class in the air are valuable to the manager Brendan Rodgers, and that was evident when he came on for Kyogo Furuhashi at the weekend as he won his side the game.

The stance from Norwich City will be the deciding factor in whether this deal happens, but if the Irish forward can keep scoring in the coming weeks and fire the Hoops towards the league title, it would be hard to imagine they wouldn’t want to explore a deal to sign him permanently.
