Charlton Athletic are set to win the signature for Harrogate Town full-back Kayne Ramsey, as reported by journalist Pete O’Rourke via a post on x, formerly known as Twitter.
The 23-year-old has starred for Harrogate this season. Having joined from Southampton in 2022, the young full-back has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in North Yorkshire and has attracted the interest of several clubs higher up the pyramid, with League One side Charlton set to confirm the signing.
The right-sided defender came through the youth ranks at Southampton, plying his trade with Ross County and Crewe Alexandra, but the defender has come into his own since permanently joining Harrogate Town, registering three assists in the division this season.
Charlton Athletic have been particularly active in the January window, with Freddie Ladapo, Conor Coventry and Macauley Gillesphey amongst the new faces at The Valley. Despite recent incomings, The Addicks are still searching for a new head coach following Michael Appleton’s recent departure.
Currently sat in 18th place in the League One table, improvement on the pitch has been a necessity for the South London outfit this winter window after flattering to deceive in the first half of the 2023/24 campaign.
Whereas, on the other hand, Simon Weaver’s side sit in eighth place in League Two, as they fight for what would be the first EFL play-off finish for the club. Despite losing one of their crucial players, The Sulphurites will have at least received a fee for the player whose contract was set to expire at the end of the season.

Harrogate will be very disappointed to lose a crucial player on the deadline day as this will no doubt affect their play-off credentials. However, to have gained a fee for a player set to leave at the end of his contract this summer will dampen some sorrow.
Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic will be gaining a player whose career has seen a great upward trajectory over the years so it will be interesting to see whether this can be continued when making the step up to League One.
