Swansea City are set to complete the first signing of the Luke Williams era by bringing a South American to the club for a seven-figure sum, according to reports.
After a disastrous first half of the campaign, the Welsh outfit find themselves way behind in the race for the playoffs and are currently 10 points off the final playoff place which is occupied by Coventry City.
The Swans have picked up merely one victory in their previous six league outings and the schedule gets no easier for new head coach Luke Williams as Swansea City face a tough run of fixtures in the near future against the likes of Leicester City, Hull City, Ipswich Town and Sunderland.
Luke Williams took responsibility for a very difficult night after watching the Swans exit the FA Cup at Bournemouth.

The former Premier League side have failed to make a single signing since the January transfer window opened. In fact, the only arrival since the summer market closed back in September was the acquisition of Yannick Bolasie on a free transfer.
However, Swansea City are set to make their first signing of the winter window. According to the BBC, the Swans are close to completing a move for Brazilian winger Ronald from Liga Portugal outfit Estrela da Amadora. The outlet are claiming that the 22-year-old will move to the Swansea.com Stadium for an undisclosed seven-figure sum.
The attacker is out of contract with Estrela at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. He has made 20 appearances this season for the Portuguese side, scoring once and recording two assists in all competitions.

While Swansea’s defensive record will be the primary concern for supporters, Williams and the recruitment staff seem keen to add further strength to the attacking department before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday.
With Swansea City’s next game taking place on Tuesday night away at league leaders Leicester City, Ronald could be in the squad for that match provided the deal is completed before Monday.
