Portsmouth New Recruit Relishing Fresh Opportunity

Portsmouth’s latest signing, Myles Peart-Harris is looking forward to helping the club to a potential promotion this season.

It was announced earlier in the week that Peart-Harris had joined Portsmouth on loan from Premier League Outfit Brentford for the remainder of the season. He’s a signing that fans will no doubt be excited about given he has appeared for Brentford in the Premier League this season.

However that was not the 21-year-old’s first experience in professional football, having been loaned out to then-League One side Forest Green Rovers last season.

Although the Green would get relegated last season, very little of the blame could be put on Peart-Harris, with Forest Green seemingly outclassed in the third tier. The young midfielder was somewhat a rose amongst thorns in that squad, notching five goals and a further four assists during his time in Gloucestershire.

From one end of the table to the other, Peart-Harris will be hoping that he can improve on the promise shown last season. The 21-year-old is held in a high regard, playing for Chelsea up to under-23 level prior to his move to West London.

Portsmouth were in dire need of a midfielder given their injury list, and they may have their man in the form of Peart-Harris.

Speaking to club media about the fresh opportunity the youngster seemed thrilled to get started.

“It’s very exciting times for both me and the club and I’m looking to take the next step in my career.

“I had a good last season on an individual level, although it obviously wasn’t so good as a team. But this is a club with a great history and we’re looking to get promotion. When the proposal came to me, it was a straight ‘yes’.

I’m excited to meet the fans and put on a performance for them. I played here last season and know they’re quite lively.

“It’s important to have that support on the road as well to give us an extra push. Stick with his and hopefully we’ll get those three points.

This looks to be a great bit of business by Portsmouth in a position which needs addressing. Already proven in the league, Peart-Harris should relish the opportunity to be in a promotion fight rather than a relegation scrap and we may see even better performances from him this season.

It’s beginning to get rather tight at the top of the table and manager John Mousinho will be hoping that his side can put a run of results together to really stake their claim for a place in the Championship next season.
