Leeds United Interested In Move For Premier League Youngster

Leeds United are targeting a move for Liverpool academy product Mateusz Musialowski, according to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider.

Musialowski is one of the most highly-rated players at youth level for the Reds and Leeds have now registered an interest in bringing him into the club. The Whites are aiming to add strength in depth to boost their promotion hopes in the second half of the season.

The Polish forward’s contract at his current club expires in June and there are currently no signs of a renewal on the horizon. He has been on fine form in front of goal for the club since joining Liverpool, scoring 30 goals in 80 games across all the youth squads at the club, as per Transfermarkt.

He came to England from the Polish outfit UKS SMS Lodz in 2021 and has appeared for his country in all age groups. The 20-year-old is currently part of the U21s squad and has made five appearances so far.

Leeds have been monitoring the player for some time and have now finally made a move to try and bring him to the club. The Championship side are not alone in their interest in the player, with his agent Cezary Kucharski confirming as far back as November that his client had multiple clubs fighting for his signature.

“We signed a contract with the condition that I would not persuade him to return to Poland. And I don’t want to persuade him to return to Poland, but he has the most offers from his homeland. Most clubs want him. I think it should go to the Netherlands, Belgium, or maybe Switzerland”.

The player is someone the Whites believe could help them close the gap to the teams above them. They are currently four points off automatic promotion, with Southampton the team they need to climb over to get there.

Liverpool are yet to respond to the interest as of yet, and their stance regarding whether they want to keep the player or allow him to leave is currently unknown.

Musialowski is a top player with a lot of potential and Leeds realise that. He is nicknamed “The Polish Messi” for a reason and signing him could prove pivotal in the promotion race for the second half of the campaign.

The player is yet to make a first-team appearance for Liverpool at 20, and with the quality of players in front of him in the first-team at the moment, he may feel a move away is the best step for his development right now.
