New Bradford City Forward Sets Ambitious Goal Tally

New Bradford City recruit Tyreik Wright is looking to hit the ground running and has set some pretty loft ambitions for his time with the club.

On Monday, Wright joined the club on loan from Championship side Plymouth Argyle, however it will not be his first stint with the Bantams.

Having already spent half a season on loan during the first part of the 2022/23 season, Valley Parade will be a familiar setting for the forward. During that spell, Wright was a mainstay in former-manager Mark Hughes’ team in the first part of the season, making 12 starts and 15 total appearances in the fourth tier. During that time, he’d rack up four goals and a further two assists.

Wright now returns to Bradford to help fire them up the League Two table as they look for an outside chance at a play-off position. The Yorkshire side have enjoyed far fonder times this season under new boss Graham Alexander than that under Hughes but still do seem somewhere off their best,

The signing of the Irish youth international could be a catalyst for change in the second part of the season. Currently sat in 14th yet just seven points off of the play-off positions, a tilt at the play-offs is by no means out of question.

Wright will no doubt aid that cause, and the forward has already set himself some lofty ambitions for the rest of the season.

Speaking to the Telegraph & Argus on his return to the club, Wright said:

“I am absolutely buzzing. I know what it is like to be here, and it was a no-brainer for me to come back with all the love I got from the fans last time.

“I played my best football here, and every game I played with a smile on my face. I feel like I let people down a little bit with the way I left last January, so am here to repay everyone.

“I am looking to get double figures in goals between now and the end of the season and help the club climb back up the table.

“I definitely have unfinished business here and am looking to finish it between now and the end of the season.

Wright’s move to Plymouth Argyle hasn’t quite worked out with just five Championship appearances and just 85 minutes to his name this season and he’ll be looking to prove himself as an exciting prospect back with the Bantams.

As he said, his best performances have come in a Bradford shirt and although his ambitions for the second half of the season seem lofty, they are achievable. A good loan spell could see the youngster stake a claim to be in Plymouth’s starting lineup next season.
