Leicester City Linked With £2.5 Million Serie A Winner

Leicester City are looking to bolster their squad ahead of what will likely be a gruelling second half of the campaign and have reportedly set their sights on a former Serie A winner.

Enzo Maresca has done a fantastic job at the King Power Stadium since taking charge of the relegated side during the summer. The Foxes are ten points clear at the top of the Championship and look primed for a return to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

Furthermore, the former Premier League champions are hunting down the league’s record points total of 106, which is currently held by League One outfit Reading from the 2005/06 campaign.

However, Maresca’s men are currently boasting a 2.5 points per game average in England’s second tier and could end the season on 115 points should this continue, blowing the record out of the water.

Nevertheless, knowing that Leicester City’s promotion rivals Ipswich Town, Leeds United and Southampton will all look to improve their squads before the January transfer window closes, Maresca is keen to add more depth and quality to his side.

According to Calciomercato, Leicester are hoping to secure the signing of Internazionale midfielder Stefano Sensi this winter as the Italian giants are keen to offload the 28-year-old and want to recoup at least £2.5 million from his sale.

Sensi, who won Serie A back in the 2020/21 season under Antonio Conte at Inter, has played just 65 minutes in total for the Nerazzurri which has been spread across four appearances. Now, Maresca could offer his compatriot a career lifeline by bringing him to Leicestershire.

Stefano Sensi is an excellent technical player and would add a lot of quality in the middle of the park for Leicester. Sensi knows what it takes to win a difficult league and wouldn’t feel out of place at Leicester given both Maresca and Cesare Casedei are Italian.

There is a possibility that the 28-year-old struggles to adapt to life in English football. However, Leicester City really can’t go wrong for the low price of just £2.5 million and he’s certainly worth the risk.
