West Brom have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dexter Lembikisa as it has been revealed that the player could return from his loan spell at Rotherham United.
It was first reported by TeamTalk over the Christmas period that Lembikisa is the focus of many clubs, following an impressive loan spell so far with the Millers. The outlet claimed that a whole host of sides in England’s second tier registered an interest in the young fullback, including West Brom, Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers, Ipswich Town and Norwich City.
Despite Rotherham’s struggles in the Championship this season, as the South Yorkshire club sit bottom of the league, Lembikisa has had plenty of game-time at the ASSEAL Stadium, making 27 appearances in all competitions which has caused his market value to rise to just under £4 million, as per Football Transfers.
Furthermore, the 21-year-old has played 2,164 minutes this season which averages out at roughly 80 minutes per appearance, meaning he is certainly a regular for Rotherham United this season. However, his parent club Wolves have the option to recall him before the January transfer window closes, with the likes of West Brom keen to take him back on loan to a club competing for a playoff spot.
Speaking in his recent press conference, Rotherham head coach Leam Richardson admitted that a recall for Lembikisa is possible, describing him as “a Wolves player” [quotes via Football League World]:
“I prefer not to speak about individuals. He’s a Wolves player, if they want to call him back, they’ll call him back.”
If Lembikisa is to be recalled, West Brom could secure his signing to add more depth and quality to their defensive department, moving him closer to home in the Midlands than Yorkshire as well.

Any team in the Championship would be lucky to have Lembikisa as part of their squad. The fullback is a full Jamaica international and has been one of the standout players in a struggling Rotherham side.
Furthermore, Lembikisa can play anywhere across the backline which makes him a highly useful player. Carlos Corberan would love a player with his versatility, even if it was only until the end of the season.
