Leeds United Tipped To Sign £4 Million-Rated Star This Month

It could be a busy month for Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United as the club have been linked with a wide array of talent who could potentially improve the squad ahead of the second half of the campaign.

Over the Christmas period, it was reported by Sam Matterface on talkSPORT that Leeds were one of two clubs, including Southampton, looking to sign AFC Bournemouth attacker David Brooks ahead of the January transfer window.

However, this report has gone cold since the window opened up at the beginning of the week. Meanwhile, the Peacocks have been linked with a player in a similar position. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Leeds are keen to bring 21-year-old Liverpool star Fabio Carvalho to the club on loan until the end of the campaign.

Nevertheless, speaking in a recent interview with GIVEMESPORT, journalist Dean Jones admitted that Brooks could be an excellent addition to Daniel Farke’s squad and could “make the difference”:

“I think David Brooks would be a nice profile signing for them to be looking at. I think that you consider the type of football that Leeds are playing but also the mentality that’s needed within that team to survive but also thrive, I think David Brooks absolutely fits that mould.

“I think the fans would love to see a player like David Brooks too. It’s a player that I think could make the difference for them.”

Since signing for the Cherries back in 2018 for a reported £11.5 million from Sheffield United, Brooks has gone on to make 112 appearances for the club, including 57 in the Premier League.

However, the 26-year-old has played just 457 minutes of action this term under head coach Andoni Iraola which has been spread across 16 appearances in all competitions. This equates to roughly 28.6 minutes per match played and his market value has dropped to £4 million, as per the CIES Football Observatory.

Brooks is a player with both Premier League and Championship experience which will be massively beneficial for Leeds United should they manage to secure his services.

While Carvalho may have become Leeds’ primary target, as the Portuguese playmaker has been made available for a loan once more since returning to Liverpool last week, Leeds could easily fall back on Brooks as a second option if their pursuit of Carvalho fails.
