Derby County are interested in signing Welsh youngster Charlie Savage from League One rivals Reading according to the Mail Online.
The son of former Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage has attracted interest from the Rams after his impressive performances since joining from Manchester United in the summer. Savage, 20, has also broken in to the senior side for Wales over recent months, making his debut for Rob Page’s side in October 2023 during a 4-0 win against Gibraltar, where he registered an assist.
It was an appearance that impressed the Welsh boss, with him stating that he will be looking to keep the youngster in the senior side going forward, with the nation having crucial play-off fixtures in March to qualify for Euro 2024 in the summer. It was also Page who told Savage to leave top flight Manchester United to go and find regular club football to progress his career, a move that has proven do to the world of good.

Despite their interest in the youngster it appears that The Royals have dismissed the first offer from Derby, despite their financial issues off the field. Derby will be looking to add to their squad in their fight to gain promotion back to the Championship after being relegated to League One in 2022.
After making one senior appearance for Manchester United, Savage has been an ever-present in the Reading midfield, making 23 league appearances, contributing with two goals and an assist, in what has been a difficult season both on and off the field for the club, with worrying financial issues continuing to dominate their campaign.
Despite this, the Berkshire side climbed out of the relegation places yesterday with a 3-2 win over Exeter City. The Royals can now enjoy an extended break and are next in action in the EFL Trophy in seven days time against Brighton & Hove Albion under-21s.

The career of Charlie Savage has gone from strength to strength since taking the decision to leave Manchester United in the summer, with the youngster improving from regular first team football, leading to his well deserved cap for his national side.
A move to Derby County could be good progression for Savage as he looks to build his way back up the football pyramid, and with the Rams looking towards promotion this season, this could be an opportunity to be playing Championship football next season.
