Leeds United Star Responds To Transfer Speculation

Leeds United’s Joe Rodon has been in stellar form, since linking up in Yorkshire from Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur, but the 26-year-old’s future ultimately rests in his parent clubs’ hands.

Making the move to North London in 2020, following two promising seasons with Swansea City, Rodon has failed to make an impression at Spurs despite playing under six different managers including Josè Mourinho and Antonio Conte, featuring just 24 times across a three-year period.

Not included in new-man Ange Postecoglou’s plans moving forward, Rodon was made available for loan, enticing Daniel Farke to secure the 42-cap Welsh International’s services. Marking his debut against Birmingham City as a late substitute in August, the former Cheltenham Town loanee has been an ever-present figure in the starting 11.

Despite seeing red, resulting in suspension, the former Rennes man has started in every league fixture when available for selection. In turn, developing a fantastic relationship with fellow central defender, Pascal Struijk.

With Leeds targeting promotion back to the top-flight at the first time of asking, and with no permanent option pre-agreed at the conclusion of the loan-deal, any potential future transfer for the 6’4 defensive rock lies in await. Speaking to WalesOnline, Rodon responded to the prospect.

“I can’t answer that question. All I can focus on is the next game and see what happens.”

He continued; “Of course [I’m here for the season] and my job is to give everything and try and be as successful as I possibly can with this team, this club.”

Trying not to give too much away, it’s evident that the Welshman is enjoying his time playing regular football in a side chasing success. Ranking top of the charts in clearances for The Lilywhites, emphasis how integral their ’14’ is to the backline.

Leeds United enter the festive period in third, however a difficult set of fixtures against Ipswich Town, Preston North End as well as West Bromwich Albion in the space of six days will certainly be challenging as they look to close in on the top two.

Speaking on the upcoming mouth-watering, crunch fixture against The Tractor Boys on Saturday, Rodon added; “We can’t hide away from the fact Ipswich have had a brilliant season so far and it’s going to be a very tough game. All we can do is work hard this week and be ready for Saturday to see what happens.”

Joe Rodon has showcased exactly why Tottenham signed him back in 2020, this campaign. A calm, composed figure at the back with plenty of Championship, alongside Premier League experience, will be crucial in their bid to achieve promotion.

Given the chance, Leeds United would be fools not to explore the possibility of bringing their star-defender back to Elland Road for not only another campaign, but making the acquisition permanent.
