Five Championship Players Who Could Make A Move In January – Opinion

It’s that time of year again, when rumours surrounding a player future’s begin to circle. Here, we look at five Championship stars who could secure a transfer next month.

There will be a lot of players attracting Premier League interest over the next month, particularly those who are performing well for the teams higher up in the table. The January transfer window provides a chance for players who are out of favour at their club to seek a move elsewhere.

Here are some players who we think could be being monitered very closely by other clubs and who could have new teams by the end of the window:

1. Crysencio Summerville

Leeds United’s 22-year-old Dutch winger has taken to life in the English second tier by storm this season, producing 10 goals and six assists in 19 matches this term.

Formerly of Feyenoord, Summerville actually attracted a lot of interest elsewhere when Leeds were relegated at the end of last season – With his scintillating attacking return since dropping down a division, there is no doubt that he will be in high demand in the New Year.

2. Che Adams

The rumours are already doing the rounds before the window has even opened, with Premier League outfit Burnley lining up a move for the Scotland international to swoop him off Southampton.

The Saint’s forward, who scored 25 goals in four top flight seasons, seems to be the man that Vincent Kompany has identified to put right their poor goal record and steer them away from relegation. Southampton will be very keen to keep Adams however, as he could be key for them making an instant return to the Premier League.

3. Wilfried Ndidi

Ever since Leicester City’s relegation last summer, there has always been uncertainty over Ndidi’s future at the club. A player who is undoubtedly better than playing for a championship side.

After summer links to Nottingham Forest and even European giants Bayern Munich, the Nigerian has got his head down at the King Power Stadium and has been key to their flawless first half of the season – however, you do get the feeling that this will only ramp up the interest from bigger clubs.

4. Patrick Bauer

This one seems more of a given than the rest, with the former Charlton Athletic central defender firmly out of favour with Ryan Lowe at Preston North End, playing just 64 minutes all season in the league.

With over 250 EFL appearances, there is no doubt that a lot of clubs will be looking at the German, with a potential return to League One looking like the most obvious solution for him to finally get some game time.

5. Jack Clarke

It seems like there are always several clubs looking at Sunderland winger Jack Clarke every transfer window, but the Black Cats have refused to entertain any offers to date. With 10 goals already this season and seemingly impressing every time he performs, question marks will inevitably be asked about the future of the 23-year-old.

Stats and performances signal that he is destined to play in the Premier League. The question is, will it be for Sunderland or someone else?
