It is not just the football that is sending positive vibes out of Elland Road recently, it is also the new found stability withing the club that is giving supporters of Leeds United a new found confidence.
Manager Daniel Farke is bringing his brand of success on the pitch, and has his team handily placed in third, ready to take advantage of any drop in form by either Leicester City or Ipswich Town.
He has also revealed that he has been in positive talks with the club owners, as they aim to make progress around the club. Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe has big long-term ambitions, as well as helping oversee an immediate return to the Premier League. As any good leadership at boardroom level, it has been pleasing for the manager that he has been left to take care of football business, trusting that behind the scenes, solid foundations are being built for the future.
Positive Talks
Farke was talking to Leeds Live and said. “In the beginning, when we had the initial talks, obviously a lot because I wanted to see the whole picture and also how they want to lead the club, which way, which values and which processes.
“My gut feeling was really, really good about this and we were pretty much on the same page and the same ideas. Also how to bring stability and also, hopefully, mid and long-term success to the club, not just short-term. Everyone wants short-term, but also sustainability and what we want to create and we’re all on the same page.
“Paraag leads this club in a general way. It’s fantastic to have those people around. This club is really blessed with lots of quality people. At the moment we just have to make sure, further on, we are there with the right decisions.”
So often there is a divide between the boardroom and the dressing room that has a disconnect, creating tension. Alternatively, there also can be too much of a hands-on approach, and the team affairs can get muddied. It seems that Leeds United are now run with a steady hand on the tiller, and this can only be a good thing for all involved.
Writer’s View
Leeds United are one of those clubs that are seen as “too big” to be in the EFL. With the way football is run these days, it is often those most prudent in running clubs as businesses that find a way to the top. No one can doubt Farke’s methods and his team is performing well.
His mind will be eased that 49ers Enterprises are steadying a ship that has too often drifted in the past, and having good communication will create a harmony that should bring the good times back to the club very soon.
