Revealed: The League One Players Caught Offside Most Regularly

Offside is the most frustrating law in the modern game.

If it’s not being butchered by VAR, with a flap of the shirt counting as offside, then it’s causing you to celebrate a goal because the assistant referee doesn’t raise their flag until the last minute. How embarrassing is that moment you jump up and cheer, only for a big ‘aaaahhhhhh’ to come up from the away fans as you realise it’s been ruled out? Very, that’s how embarrassing.

Once upon a time, teams played an offside trap, but now that seems to be a thing of the past. However, there are some players that just don’t seem to be able to grasp the laws. Perhaps they make a run too early or stray into positions they shouldn’t be in.

It’s not always the player’s fault – sometimes the run is perfect, but the ball is too late. However, in most instances, you have to blame the player.
So, which of League One’s big names are offside the most?

The most offside player, based on offsides per 90 minutes, is Lincoln City’s Hakeeb Adelakun. In 821 minutes of football in League One this season, he’s been called offside 12 times. It isn’t the highest in terms of numbers, but the overall average makes him the most offside player in the division.

Kane Hemmings is next – he’s played fewer minutes than Adelakun, 720, but has been caught offside nine times. Sean Maguire is top three in terms of offsides per 90 minutes and sixth in terms of total offsides with 15. In fourth, Mark Harris has also been caught office 15 times, but has played 44 fewer minutes.

Here’s the list of players in League One who have been caught offside the most per 90 minutes this season.
