Preston North End are rumoured to be very interested in Liverpool’s 20-year-old central defender Jarell Quansah, and are ready to go toe to toe with Leicester City in securing the former Bristol Rovers loanee, if made available in January by Jürgen Klopp, reports Alan Nixon.
Quansah, who has been with The Reds since the age of five has featured a handful of times already this season in England’s top flight alongside the Europa League. With the majority of appearances coming from the bench, the 6’3 rock was handed his full Premier League debut in a clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers in mid-September.
However, clearly still very young, Liverpool’s ’78’ only gained first-team experience as recent as January of this year, linking up with Bristol Rovers of League One. Here, the hot prospect would feature 16 times and ultimately finishing 17th in the final standings with the Gas, who interestingly conceded the fifth most goals in the division, shipping 73.
Furthermore, although clearly in Jürgen Klopp’s plans in the near future, it is vital that the young man can continue his development, in turn making a loan move to the Championship increasingly likely. As reported by journalist; Alan Nixon, Preston North End and Leicester City are both believed to be admirers of the England U21 international.
North End have already completed business with Liverpool this season, securing the services of 20-year-old Scot Calvin Ramsey on a loan deal. An ever-present relationship with the 6-time Champions League winning giants will certainly boost confidence and optimism around getting a deal done.
In truth, it will be a much-needed upgrade for the Lancashire club as they have leaked far too many goals in recent weeks, conceding 20 in their past 9 matches, amounting to 2.2 goals conceded per game. With just two loan spots currently activated, Quansah will benefit from the chance to gain regular first-team minutes, in a side competing at the top of the table.

When comparing the difference between the two clubs, North End and The Foxes, you have to consider which one would the player benefit the most from. At Preston there is more room to grow, to play frequently, whereas at Leicester the likes of Jannik Vestergaard, Wout Faes, Harry Souttar, Conor Coady and the eventual return of Callum Doyle will be challenging to overcome in the pecking order.
With the already existing relationship between Preston and Liverpool, a move to Deepdale can be considered more enticing, but the decision as always lies on the player and manager at the parent club.
