Leeds United Boss Confirms Duo Could Be Absent Ahead Of Plymouth Argyle Clash

Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke has admitted that there are two players who are still being assessed ahead of this weekend’s Championship bout at home to Plymouth Argyle.

The Peacocks picked up a huge victory last Friday by beating runaway league leaders Leicester City away at the King Power Stadium to claw back some points on the Foxes and Ipswich Town in second.

The win also meant that Leeds held onto third place and are sitting pretty with 28 points. With Leicester facing Middlesbrough away on Saturday afternoon and Ipswich at home to Swansea City, Farke will be hoping that three points against Plymouth can drag the Whites even closer to the automatic promotion spots.

To do so, the German will need to field a strong lineup but could be without two squad players for the clash at Elland Road.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the former Norwich City boss admitted that it is touch-and-go over whether striker Patrick Bamford and defender Charlie Cresswell will be included in the matchday squad [quotes via Leeds United News]:

“They are two little question marks with Patrick Bamford, he has missed the first sessions of this week due to illness. He was just back in team training today and we have to hope his body his reacts, as it was just a light session today. I hope he’s available.

“Also, Charlie Cresswell missed the beginning of the week due to private reasons, but I hope he’s available. We will have to see.”

While Farke would prefer to have a full squad to choose from for his side’s upcoming game at home to the Pilgrims, Bamford and Cresswell are not regulars in the starting lineup.

Nevertheless, with or without the pair on the bench, one would expect Leeds United to comfortably pick up all three points in this game.
