Leicester City Tipped To Suffer Shock Defeat This Weekend

Leicester City’s late 2-1 win away at Queens Park Rangers was the side’s ninth-consecutive victory in the Championship, but one former Leeds United player believes this streak will come to an end on Friday night.

The Foxes underwent open heart surgery during the summer transfer window, losing the likes of James Maddison, Youri Tielemans, Johnny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu and Harvey Barnes, just to name a few.

However, the club’s recruitment was excellent, bringing some top players to the club such as Stephy Mavididi, Cesare Casadei, Conor Coady, and Harry Winks but the most important acquisition was to appoint former Manchester City assistant Enzo Maresca as the new head coach.

Maresca’s men are cruising at the moment in England’s second tier and look primed for a return to the promised land of the Premier League at the first time of asking, having picked up 39 points from a possible 42 and sitting five clear at the top of the table.

Leicester will be hoping to make it ten wins from ten in the league as Maresca’s side host third-place Leeds United at the King Power Stadium.

Former Leeds man Ben Parker believes that the Peacocks can be the one to end the Foxes’ hot run of form. Speaking on LS11 on Thursday, Parker has predicted a 2-1 win for his old club [quotes via Leeds United News]:

“They’ve [Leicester City] not been tearing teams apart. The difference, they’re winning ugly. A fantastic game. A point would be good, but I think we’re gonna nick it towards the end. Last 10 mins, get a winner and win 2-1.”

Writer’s View

Leicester City have been winning games ugly, including their most recent outing away at QPR when a late Harry Winks wonder strike earned all three points. However, ‘winning ugly’ is a trait all champions possess.

It will be incredibly difficult for the Whites to go to Leicester and pick up all three points. Even a draw would be a positive result for Daniel Farke’s side but a win would be a real statement that Leeds can contend for automatic promotion this term.
