Bradford City have issued the club’s fanbase with an update on their hunt for a new manager.
The Bantams have been without a head coach since parting company with Mark Hughes on the 4th of October. The Welsh manager left the club after a run of three consecutive defeats, the latest coming in the way of a 2-1 defeat away at Tranmere Rovers.
The side currently sit 16th in League Two after 16 games, just six points from the play-off positions.
Bradford midfielder Kevin McDonald was put in interim charge on a player/manager basis after the departure of Hughes, but will now be replaced by Mark Trueman this weekend for their FA Cup clash with Wycombe Wanderers.
Club chief executive Ryan Sparkes issued a statement on the club website, that included their thanks to McDonald for his time as interim manager.
It read: “I would like to thank Kevin McDonald for stepping up and leading the side over the past six matches.”
“Kevin has conducted himself admirably throughout, both on and off the field, securing some important results for the club.”
Sparkes also provided an update on the club’s plans to find a full-time replacement for the manager position.
“This is a very important appointment and, as with any decision of this magnitude, a great deal of due diligence has been undertaken,” said Sparkes.
“Mark Trueman is no stranger to this role, and has our full backing and confidence heading into this weekend’s FA Cup first-round visit of Wycombe.”
“The next update we provide will be the unveiling of our new men’s first-team manager,” he added.

Bradford City are arguably one of the biggest clubs in League Two and it’s one that has spent too long in the bottom tier, considering their history as a top-flight team.
It looked as though they had finally gotten the man to lead them towards promotion under Mark Hughes, but it didn’t quite work out the way many may have thought. The next managerial decision is sure to be a big one for the club, as they have said themselves, and is one they need to get right to start pushing forward. League Two has become a very competitive division and is getting even harder to compete in, so the club really needs this decision to be the right one.
