More Records Broken As Leicester City Show “Calmness and Character”

It is going to take some stopping Leicester City this season, as they came from behind to beat Swansea City away from home 3-1 on Saturday.

But they didn’t have it all their own way as they fell behind to the Welsh team. Such is their confidence right now, they powered on to a record-breaking win. They took advantage of Ipswich Town’s game being called off on Friday night due to the adverse weather at Rotherham United, to go five points clear at the top of the Championship.

Record Breaking Start

They have now won 11 of their 12 games in the league, which is a record, and also claimed their sixth straight away win, a club record.

Danish goalkeeper Mads Hermansen was in the thick of the action early on and made some good stops late on to preserve the lead.

Speaking to the club’s Official Website he said. “We played well. I think what I’m most happy about today is that we went 1-0 down but we showed our calmness and our character as a team to keep believing in the way we do things.

“I’m just happy that we kept our cool and kept on playing. We got rewarded in the end.”

The win was punctuated by Kelechi Iheanacho, who after coming off the bench, scored the third Foxes goal. Three minutes after the Nigerian came on, he netted for the fourth consecutive game. A personal record.

With a round of fixtures this midweek, Leicester will be looking to extend their amazing start to the campaign when they host Sunderland on Tuesday.

Hermansen continued. “Of course, the confidence is high. We know what we’re doing and what we can improve. We have to just keep going. No matter what team we’re playing, we have to keep doing the same things so hopefully we can win again on Tuesday. We have to focus on the details and focus on doing the right things as a team and then the results can come.”

Writer’s View

After relegation from the Premier League teams can often find it difficult to adjust the to Championship style of play. Leicester City have had no such worries. After just 13 games they are already 11 points clear of third place Leeds United, so automatic promotion already seems a formality. With sixth-place Sunderland next, they face a tough test, but when on top form like this it is like having a goal start before kick-off.
