Sunderland have been predicted to keep their excellent form in the Championship going with yet another win this weekend against a recently-resurged Middlesbrough.
Tony Mowbray’s men made it five wins from six games on Wednesday with a 2-0 home victory over Watford thanks to a wonderful solo goal by Niall Huggins late in the first half which was followed up by Abdoullah Bah after the interval to earn all three points.
The Black Cats are sitting fourth in England’s second tier, six points off the automatic promotion places but are now preparing to face Middlesbrough in the early kick-off tomorrow who have also been on a hot streak at the moment.
Michael Carrick’s side suffered a stuttering start to the season but are now on a four-game win streak in all competitions. However, EFL pundit David Prutton believes an in-form Sunderland are a step too far for Boro.
Writing for Sky Sports ahead of this weekend’s games, Prutton has predicted the hosts to come out on top with a 3-2 win at the Stadium of Light:
“Sunderland at their free-flowing best are one of the most enjoyable teams to watch in the league. They have a young side who have been given the platform and confidence to play with freedom in attack. When it works it is a joy.
