AFC Wimbledon bagged another away win on Tuesday night, their fourth in six games away from Plough Lane. The 1-0 win at Harrogate Town, courtesy of an Omar Bugiel goal in the sixth minute, propelled the Dons up into second place.
This was the third win on the bounce for Johnnie Jacksons’ men and has fans cooing over the current form. It has been a long time since a Wimbledon side has put together a string of results, so they are making the most of it while they can. Speaking to the official club website after the game, the manager said;
“It’s one of my favourite scorelines in football, a 1-0 away from home. A clean sheet at a tough place to come on a Tuesday night, it’s a long way from home. It’s why we got carried away afterwards because it’s for the supporters that made the journey. We were delighted to send them home happy.”
No one can touch the Dons’ away form at the moment, with 14 points so far, no one else has reached double figures yet. They will face a tough test on Saturday though as they look to extend their impressive road form when they face unbeaten Mansfield Town, the only side in League Two yet to drop a game.
“We had a really solid defensive structure. Although the scoreline wasn’t comfortable, I felt comfortable within the game. I think my boys were good out of possession and when we needed to be aggressive in wide areas we stuck crosses in. I don’t think Alex Bass has had a save to make. As far as 1-0 goes, it’s as comfortable a 1-0 as you’re going to see.”

In a congested top ten, it is important Wimbledon keep up the good work. They can ill afford to start getting complacent after just a quarter of the season gone.
The depth of the squad will be tested again soon, with players away on international duty. This looks to be a much-assured group of players from seasons just gone by and has fans optimistic.
