Premier League outfit Brentford have identified Leicester City striker Patson Daka as a potential replacement for Ivan Toney, according to FootballTransfers.
The England striker is wanted by a host of top flight clubs, with Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea all thought to be keen. As a result, the Bees are looking to gain an advantage ahead of the winter transfer market and be ready to strike should their talisman depart the club.
Daka joined the Foxes from Red Bull Salzburg in 2021 after hitting 27 league goals in 28 appearances during the 2020/21 season for the Austrians, but failed to replicate that form in the Premier League. He hit just nine league goals across two campaigns, featuring 30 times last season as Leicester succumbed to relegation.
The 24-year-old was touted to leave the King Power Stadium during the summer and came close to joining AFC Bournemouth on loan with an option to buy on transfer deadline day, but the move fell through in the final hours.
The Zambian international only made his first appearance of the season last night when he was introduced as a substitute in the 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat against Liverpool. He has failed to make a single Championship appearance and has only made the matchday squad on three occasions.
According to FootballTransfers’ report, the Cherries remain keen but now face competition from Premier League rivals Brentford. Thomas Frank’s team became one of the toughest sides to beat last season, finishing ninth, but have struggled in the absence of Toney – who is currently serving an eight-month ban for breaching betting rules.
The former Peterborough United attacker will be able to resume his career in January, but it is looking increasingly likely that he will continue his journey elsewhere. As a result, Brentford look set to launch an assault on Daka, but the attacker is also attracting interest from Italian giants AC Milan and a host of clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Patson Daka’s situation at Leicester is a curious one. Clearly, his time at the club has been a struggle thus far, but the fact that he is still held in high regard from a number of clubs points to something more sinister. It has been claimed that there has been a fallout with manager Enzo Maresca and a January transfer looks best for all parties.
Brentford’s interest will much depend on the situation with Ivan Toney of course, but the 27-year-old has emerged as one of the hottest strikers in the country and his eight-month man has not put off any potential suitors. He won’t come cheap though, and Brentford’s list of replacements is sure to be lengthy. Expect them to target a player with proven Premier League pedigree.
