Championship Clubs Line Up Bids For In-Form Mansfield Town Attacker

A host of Championship clubs are reportedly set to launch January bids for in-form Mansfield Town attacker Davis Keillor-Dunn, according to James Marshment of TEAMTalk.

The 25-year-old has started the League Two season strongly, as the Stags currently sit 5th in the table as they try to achieve promotion to the third tier of English football under the stewardship of Nigel Clough. Due to the midfielder’s fine form, Championship clubs are reportedly already planning to place bids for the former Oldham man ahead of the opening of the next transfer window.

What’s Been Said?

According to the report by Marshment, there is interest in the  player from League One and Championship clubs such as the likes of Millwall, Plymouth Argyle and Hull City who are tracking his progress ahead of the upcoming window. There is also reported interest from Barnsley, Bolton and Blackpool in Keillor-Dunn, who only joined the Stags in the January window of this year from Burton Albion.

Most will know Keillor-Dunn from his spell at Oldham Athletic, where he made 105 appearances for the now National League side, and scored 28 goals, before he earned a move to Dino Maamria’s side in League One in the summer of 2022. Despite making 26 appearances and scoring six times for the Brewers, he joined his current side this year as he hoped to guide the Stags into League One football before they missed out on the play-offs at the end of last season by a single goal, with Salford City also having the same number of points but had scored more goals.

But the start of this season has been electric for the 25-year-old – he has scored seven goals and recorded two assists in the eight league games that he has played so far this season for Mansfield, which has led to the attracted interest from Championship and League One clubs.

Writer’s View

I found it a surprise myself when Davis Keillor-Dunn left Burton for Mansfield just six months after joining the Brewers, but he has become a key component for Nigel Clough’s side as they look to try and win promotion to the third tier.

His electrifying form at the start of this season was always going to attract stronger interest from other clubs, and it may be difficult for the Stags to retain Keillor-Dunn’s services, but the fact he has a contract that does not run out until 2025, means that if any bids do come in for him, the Stags will hold all the cards.
