Leeds United are still open to selling goalkeeper Ilian Meslier and could look to offload the Frenchman when the transfer window reopens in January, according to Football Insider.
During the summer, Thibaut Courtois picked up an unfortunate injury, which is set to keep him out of the Real Madrid lineup for the foreseeable future. Spanish outlet Sport reported that Leeds’ number one was marked as a potential replacement for the Belgian.
Meslier ultimately never left Elland Road but Football Insider revealed back in August that the club were not completely against losing the former Lorient shot-stopper and were even willing to listen to offers for his services.
Furthermore, the outlet claimed that Leeds United were holding out for between £20-25 million for the 23-year-old and that the board were trying to sell him before transfer deadline day.
Meslier was previously valued at £40 million when the Yorkshire side were still in the Premier League but Leeds could be pushed to accept just half that valuation over the next few months.
However, a move never came to fruition but now FI are reporting that the Peacocks are still determined to move the young goalkeeper on.
Leeds completed the signing of Karl Darlow from top-flight outfit Newcastle United in the summer for an undisclosed fee, meaning the former Hull City loanee would be Daniel Farke’s main man between the sticks should Meslier leave for pastures new. That is unless the Meslier money is used to sign a new keeper.
In fact, last Friday, Football Insider also revealed that Darlow was signed to be Leeds United’s primary goalkeeper once Meslier leaves the club.

Leeds United clearly see Darlow as a more reliable goalkeeper than Meslier. The latter was signed under Marcelo Bielsa several seasons ago as a hot prospect but is still making the same errors now that he did as a youngster.
Nevertheless, 23 is certainly not old and so there is a possibility that Meslier joins another club in Europe and becomes the goalkeeper Bielsa envisioned from the beginning, leaving Leeds with egg on their face.
