Agent Addresses West Bromwich Albion Star Exit Rumours

The agent of West Bromwich Albion star Okay Yokuslu has revealed that his client had no desire to leave the Hawthorns this summer despite talks about a return to Turkey.

Turkish outlet Aksam released a report on Tuesday claiming that Galatasaray were interested in signing Yokuslu before the transfer window ends tonight. However, the midfielder’s agent confirmed that these rumours were false.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Yokuslu’s representative Batur Altıparmak said there was no communication from the Turkish champions [quotes via Birmingham Live]:

“First of all, let me say this, there was no communication with us from Galatasaray. We were called at the beginning of the season and asked about our situation.”

Altıparmak also admitted that the 29-year-old is determined to continue playing for West Brom and is not interested in a return to his homeland just yet:

“We said that we wanted to continue our football life in England and we were not interested.

“Some Turkish clubs also asked about the situation, but we did not accept unless there was an extraordinary situation. We are determined to continue our football life in England.”

Yokuslu signed for the Baggies in January on loan from Celta Vigo during Sam Allardyce’s reign at the club in 2020/21, a campaign that ended in relegation from the Premier League for the West Midlands club.

Despite returning to La Liga, Yokuslu re-signed on a permanent basis last summer after being released by Celta Vigo at the end of the 2021/22 campaign. It seems as though the Turkey international is determined to stay at West Brom for the foreseeable future.
