£5 Million Signing Nearing Debut After Impressing Hull City Boss

New Hull City signing Jaden Philogene-Bidace could be set to make his debut this weekend after impressing head coach Liam Rosenior in training, the manager himself has confirmed.

Having already featured in the Premier League for Aston Villa this term, Philogene jumped ship to the Tigers on transfer deadline day. The 21-year-old penned a four-year deal with City and £5 million was agreed between the two clubs, according to TeamTalk.

Philogene moved to the MKM Stadium at the same time as Liverpool starlet Tyler Morton, although the latter is joining on a temporary basis and will return to the English giants at the end of the season.

Nevertheless, neither have made their debuts at Hull City yet, particularly Philogene who was bought for a lot of money. However, manager Rosenior has hinted that the former Cardiff City loanee is in line for a start this weekend as the Humberside club take on Coventry City in front of a home crowd.

Speaking to Hull Live, the ex-Derby County interim boss said [quotes via Hull Live]:

“He’s good. It’s one thing seeing a player from afar and working really hard to get them and when you see them in person, he’s made us more excited, I can’t wait to see him whether it’s from the bench (or from the start).

“He’s had a decent pre-season so he’s someone that I know has the level and fitness to start the game, but what I want him to do is understand everything that’s expected of him, but he’s not far away from starting.”

Philogene missed the 1-0 win over Leicester City which came 24 hours after signing for the club on deadline day almost two weeks ago but it’s likely that the home supporters will finally be able to give him a warm welcome.

The attacker will be a tremendous addition to Hull City’s squad and so Rosenior will certainly look to get him involved as quickly as possible.
