Wrexham AFC manager Phil Parkinson is pleased with his side’s recent form that has seen his team climb into the League Two play-off positions following their disappointing 5-3 defeat against MK Dons on the opening day, in quotes provided to The Leader.
After a record-breaking season that saw the North Wales outfit lift the National League title, Wrexham came into their first EFL season in 15 years as heavy favourites to repeat their promotion heroics. Their season started with opening-day disappointment, as MK Dons left the Cae Ras with three points following a 5-3 victory.
Further doubts over The Red Dragon’s promotion hopes came after draws with Wimbledon, Swindon and Barrow; however, manager Phil Parkinson is pleased with his side’s response after recent victories over Tranmere Rovers and Doncaster Rovers.
In fact, the draws now look more positive as the team are now six unbeaten and occupies a League Two play-off position, whilst sitting only three points wide of league leaders, Gillingham.
Parkinson has also faced many difficulties within his squad this season – as talisman Paul Mullin has missed the start of the season through injury, alongside being faced with the decision to leave Billy Waters, Bryce Hosannah and Callum McFadzean out of their 22-man squad.
Wrexham will be hoping to make it three wins in a row as they welcome Grimsby Town to The Racecourse Ground this weekend, the side’s last meeting in a dramatic 5-4 play-off victory for The Mariners.
What has been said?
Speaking to The Leader, Parkinson said:
“I think we would have taken where we are after this first run of games.
“It is important to keep chipping away and we are doing. We are feeling our way into the division and I am very pleased with the group. The lads have responded really well.
“We have got a mixture of players; we have got some players who have played at a higher level and we have got some players who have never played in this division before.
